Powell Studio Architecture has been awarded the opportunity to improve the campus of Montverde Academy to better serve their students. Renovations will begin in 2016 on the Duncan Student Center, Martha Bedell Dining Hall, and the Jorn M. Kreke Science Building. Powell Studio Architecture will also be designing a new Boy’s Dormitory in 2016.
It is a honor to participate in the continued growth and development of an institution, such as Montverde Academy. Since 2011, members of Powell Studio Architecture have participated in renovations and design of new construction on their campus. Working closely with the staff of Montverde, a Master Plan was created to sustain their growth into the future.
Powell Studio Architecture completed the design and saw through construction of the MacKenzie Upper School Building in 2015. The MacKenzie Building is an expansive 36,000 square-foot Upper School Classroom Building. It houses 27 classrooms, a computer lab, study hall, administrative offices, IT services, and a college counseling center.
Throughout the years, Montverde has relied on the expertise of Powell Studio Architecture for renovations on campus at the Pineapple House and George H. Rast Library. New construction included a Maintenance Building and the state-of-the-art Sports Athletic Complex.
While members of Powell Studio Architecture were working with another company they had to design the Montverde Academy Sports Athletic Complex. Jeff Powell was the architect of record for this project.
The state-of-the-art Athletic Complex was the foundation for new sports being introduced to the growing athletic program at MVA. Softball was introduced to MVA and has advanced to the District Championship for the 4th consecutive year, since its establishment. In addition to softball fields there are tennis courts, a golf practice area, track , baseball, football, and soccer fields. Concession and restroom facilities within the complex were designed to reflect the design of the surrounding campus.
Montverde Academy was founded in 1912. The campus continues to transform to meet the current needs of their students and staff. Powell Studio Architecture has worked closely with Montverde Academy to ensure that with each renovation and new development the campus reflects the existing culture and landscape.
